We
are coming to the end of our year! Where did it go?
Due to a lack of volunteers and other
issues surrounding activities of a local paranormal group, we have chosen to cancel our events for October. They are scheduled
now for 2012 with the hope that we will be able to enlist others in the community and assure those who are concerned about
keeping an atmosphere of respect in this beautiful place. Our work always strives to educate others about customs and
values of other times, as well as to entertain. We will never do anything that will disrespect those buried here or the visitors
and family members that come to Evergreen Cemetery.
Do
you have a family member buried in Evergreen Cemetery? Would you like to commemorate a family
member by sharing their story? The historical marker project is looking for those stories. Every person buried in Evergreen
has a story, and YES, it is interesting to others. This is a chance to share memories, pictures, events, humorous stories,
etc. with others and keep their memories alive. Please contact Dianne Hartshorn at blanchesplace@yahoo.com It is free and we will keep their story up for a month!

Evergreen Cemetery Benevolent Society was created to work along side Evergreen Cemetery
to aid in conservation and repairing the older sections of the cemetery where there are no longer family members left
to care for the gravesites, many of which date to the early 1870's .
Please contact us if you are interested
in volunteering or have a family history to share.
Visit the links to learn how you can help and find out about
upcoming events.
Our projects are completed only through donations from supporters like you!
ECBS is a 501c3 nonprofit and donations are tax deductible.
2010 was a tremendously successful year for ECBS! Below
is the report that was submitted to Evergreen Cemetery and it will be part of the formal presentation to the Parka and Rec
board in January 2011. Dianne and I, Ingrid, wish to thank all of you that took part in projects, events, and attended meetings
this year. You are a valuable part of this society and without your help, we would not have been able to accomplish as much
as we did! THANK YOU!
There are some awesome things being planned for 2011. Stay tuned!

Cemetery Watch
This program began August 27th, 2010
Cemetery Watch is set much like the Neighborhood
Watch Program
The city cemeteries are in need of volunteers that are willing to be the eyes and ears for the cemetery
manager and the police department. Without the cooperation of the citizens and visitors of Colorado Springs, the cemetery
would be at the mercy of criminals and vandals. Please report all suspicious and criminal behavior to the cemetery manager
during business hours and to the police department.
Please report all items missing from graves or seen missing from
plots.

Adopt a Block Training
We are planning to a short class for the Adopt a Block Program in the Spring of 2011. This training
session will address what issues a volunteer might encounter and require all that are working with ECBS to sign a memorandum
of understanding. Trimming rogue trees, vines, and pruning roses are a priority. There are not enough workers in the cemetery.
Check back with us for dates!
